Pastor Myers was born and grew up in Altoona,
Pennsylvania in 1934. He graduated from High School in
1952 and went on to graduate from Fort Wayne Bible
College in 1957. He received a B.A. degree with a major in
theology and a minor in missions.
Whitey, now seventy-seven years young, loves the Lord, the
Lord's work, the Lord's people and the Lord's Word. He
considers it a high honor and privilege to serve the Lord.
While a missionary Elvin was introduced to the grace
message. He took time to investigate its claims and decided
it was right and true. Ever since returning to the United
States from the mission field in Colombia, he has taken a
strong stand for the grace message, and the Word rightly
divided. Whitey and his new bride, Ann, were married March
7th, 2010 and they continue to minister to the congregation
at Grace Bible Fellowship.
While attending Fort Wayne Bible College, Pastor Myers met
his future wife Betty Bruner. Betty was born in Detroit,
Michigan where she graduated from Marysville High School
before attending Fort Wayne Bible College. Pastor Elvin
and Mrs. Betty Myers were married in 1956. Betty had just
graduated and Elvin had one more semester to go. During
their final months of college, they searched for a mission to
whom they could apply for service in South America. They
were assigned to the country of Columbia after being
accepted by the South America Indian Mission in 1958.
Because Columbia was not giving visas to missionaries, they
were refused entry into the country. After trying three times
to get visas, the Columbian government granted them
resident visas. They left for the field in February of 1961 with
three small children.
Whitey and Betty served in Columbia from 1961 through the
summer of 1978. Upon returning to the United States,
Whitey worked as home missionary at Altoona Bible Church,
his home church. During that year, Whitey and Betty moved
to Anton, Colorado where Whitey accepted a call to pastor
the Bethel Union Church for eleven years. In 1990 they
moved to Clearbrook, Virginia where Whitey served as
pastor of Grace Bible Fellowship Church for nearly five
years. Then they moved to Venice, Florida where Whitey
pastored Grace Bible Fellowship Church before retiring in
December 2001. He stayed on to serve as a board member,
treasurer and song leader. When the new pastor resigned in
August of 2003, Whitey returned to the pulpit and is currently
serving as pastor.
Throughout the years, Betty took care of her husband and
raised five wonderful children. She also took an active role in
missionary work overseas and here in the United States.
She also taught school. While in Columbia, she taught our
children because there was no school for them to attend at
the time. Later, when the children were enrolled in boarding
school in Venezuela, she taught the Indian children for
several years. This produced a number of Indians who are
Christians today. They speak and read Spanish and have
formed the nucleus of the Indian church. She served all the
churches we were associated with over the years in many
different ways, including Sunday School teacher, pianist,
organist and more. Betty went home to be with the Lord on
November 4, 2008.

Three Churches in Acts
Text: Acts 2:47; 7:38; 20:17 Introduction: There are three different churches in the book of Acts. It will help us to remember that the word "church" means "called out assembly". All three of these called out assemblies are in some way associated with the activities of God.
