Genesis 39 finds Joseph sold to Potiphar and rises to be his steward only to be put in prison because of the lies of Potiphar’s wife. Joseph displays righteous behavior, and even though he is in prison, we see “but the Lord” was with him.

Genesis 38 tells us about Judah and Tamar. After helping to sell his brother, Joseph, into slavery, he leaves his father in Hebron and goes marries a Canaanite. Tamar becomes the wife of his oldest son, but he soon dies. We find a remarkable relation to the life of Ruth, and eventually, Christ Himself.
