In the 35 years I’ve been a Christian who attends church, I’ve never heard a sermon on God’s Sovereignty like this one….34 years ago, I got up and walked out of a Bible Study discussion based on a well known tv Preacher’s teaching in the Old Testament on God Plan and God’s will that certain people have illnesses (or are – put anything in the blank here – like, elected, raped, injured, abused, etc). The group leader followed me out and told me I just had to accept that because “God’s in control…”. I told her then, in that case, she and I did not have the same God, and I left the building! OK, so I was a bit of a drama queen when I was younger, but when I started out on my journey with God, my question, my prayer was for the TRUTH of Jesus Christ, who HE was and what is the TRUE faith? And her answer (and all the other 8 ladies in the room) Just was NOT the truth! I knew it in my heart, my soul and my spirit! How I put it to her was, “if your God is a god that sits up in heaven and says ‘I think I’ll just zap Lou Ann today’ , then you and I have different Gods!” Yesterday, a Christian friend from Chicago and I were talking and she believes that God chose Trump for President because “God’s in control, it was God’s Plan”….Anyway, I sent her your Sermon so I know we will be talking again soon…..Thank you, Don, thank you!!
